Management Board

The Management Board is an executive collective body responsible for the operational business management of the Bank. The Management Board consists of Chairman, Vice-Chairmen and Managing Directors.

Responsibilities of the Management Board are:

Ensure implementation of decisions taken by at the General Shareholders’ Meetings and by the Board of Directors
Maintain sustainable financial and economic activity of the Bank
Implement business strategy
Appoint senior management and branch representatives of the Bank
Make decisions outside of the Board of Directors’ competence or the General Shareholders Meeting

Members of the Management Board of 'BTA Bank' JSC are acknowledged professionals with wide managerial experience in financial institutions of Kazakhstan and foreign countries, as well as governmental bodies of Kazakhstan. Leading positions and high ratings of the Bank is a proof of high professional level of the Board.

		Anvar Saidenov Chairman of the Management Board Graduated magna cum laude from Economic Faculty of Moscow State University named after M. V. Lomonosov and received a qualification of Economist and Lecturer of Political Economy. Graduated from London University in 1994 with a degree of Master of Science in Financial Economics as well as holds a degree of Candidate of Economic Science from Moscow University. Mr. Saidenov’s professional experience started with a position of Lecturer and Head of Sector at Social and Economic Disciplines at Dzhambul Irrigation and Construction Institute. In 1994 Mr. Saidenov joined European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in the position of Consultant and Banker in London. In 1996 he was appointed Deputy Governor of the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan and in 1998 was appointed Executive Director of the State Investment Committee. During the period from January to August 1999 Mr. Saidenov held a post of Chairman at the Investment Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan that was followed by his appointment as Vice-Minister Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan until August 2000 when he was appointed Chairman of the Executive Board at “National Savings Bank” JSC. In June 2002 Mr. Saidenov joined National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan first as Deputy Governor and then as of January 2004 as Governor. On February 2, 2009 Mr. Saidenov was appointed Advisor to the Executive Board Chairman. On February 17, 2009 he was appointed Chairman of the Executive Board of “BTA Bank” JSC by the decision of the Board of Directors.
		Nikolay Varenko First Deputy Chairman of the Management Board In 1994 Graduated from Moscow State Institute of International Relations and qualified as Economist. In 1995 completed London School of Economics with major in Banking and Finance and received MBA from St. Anna College at Oxford University. Mr. Varenko’s professional experience started in 1994 first at State Property Committee of the Russian Federation, then at Russian Privatization Centre as well as at the Representative Office of Deloitte & Touche in Moscow. During the period from 1997 until 2001 Mr. Varenko held a post of Director Corporate Finance at “Kazkommеrts Securities” JSC. From 2003 to 2004 Mr. Varenko held positions of Board Member of “Himpharm” JSC, Chairman of the Board of Directors at «Central Asia Cement» JSC, Chairman and Board Member of «Compass» Investment Management Company. Mr. Varenko has been holding posts of President at “Venture Fund Advant” SC since 2005 and Chairman of the Board at «Visor Investment Solutions» JSC. On February 9, 2009 Mr. Varenko has been appointed Vice-Chairman of “BTA Bank” JSC. Since August 2009 Mr. Varenko has been appointed as the First Deputy Chairman of the Management Board.
		Berik Otemurat Deputy Chairman of the Management Board, Member of the Management Board In 2003 Berik Otemurat graduated from the Kazakhstan Institute of Management, Economics and Strategic Research (KIMEP) with Honors, having received the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Accounting in "Finance" specialty. Mr. Otemurat has started his professional carrier back in 2003 by taking a position of audit expert in "Ernst & Young" company. From 2005 to 2007 he has worked in a private sector. During 2007–2008 Mr. Otemurat has worked as a Chief Manager of the Corporate Financing Department in JSC "SDF Kazyna". Since 2008 through 2009 he has occupied the position of Director of the Corporate Financing Department in JSC "SDF Kazyna" and then starting from October 2009 he has been working as a Director of the Corporate Finances Department at JSC "NWF Samruk-Kazyna". Since June 2009 through March 2010 Mr. Otemurat has been working as a Managing Director and the Management Board Member at JSC "Development Bank of Kazakhstan". On March 18, 2010 Mr. Otemurat was appointed as a Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of JSC "BTA Bank" by the decision of the Board of Directors.
		Abilakim Zhumakhmetov Vice-Chairman of the Management Board In 1981 he graduated from Karaganda Co-operative institute, majoring in "Accounting". In 1984 he graduated from Moscow Cooperative Institute, specializing in "Accounting" with appropriate qualification of "Teacher of cooperative technical school". During the period of 1984-1989 he worked as an Assistant, then as a Professor of Karaganda Cooperative Institute. In 1993 he defended thesis, and got an academic degree of Candidate of Economic Science, PhD. In 1994 he joined banking, first as a Specialist of Branch offices Management Department at JSC "Kazcommercbank". From 1995 till 1998 he occupied the position of Director of Kzylorda Branch office of JSC "Kazcommercbank". Since 1998 he has been working in JSC "Bank TuranAlem" beginning in the position of Director of Kzylorda Branch office. From August 2000 he has been Vice-Chairman of the Management Board of JSC "Bank TuranAlem" (currently BTA Bank).
		Sergey Yeltsov Deputy Chairman of the Management Board In 1997 Mr. Yeltsov graduated from the Kazakh Institute of Law and International Relations, in «International Law» specialty, qualification «Lawyer» (international lawyer). In 2005 he also graduated from the Almaty Academy on Economics and Statistics, in «Finance and credit» specialty, qualification «Economist». Mr. Yeltsov started his career in 1995 at the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Republic of Kazakhstan. From 1998 he used to work as a Senior Specialist at the non-commercial Legislation Section of the Financial Authorities Activity Maintenance Division, Legal Service Department and the Deputy Head of Claim Arrangement Division of the same Finance Legal Service Department at the Ministry of Finance of Kazakhstan. In 1999 he has worked in OJSC “Kazakhtelecom” and in CJSC “National Law Service” at the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Since 2000 through 2007 he worked as a lawyer and as a Head of Legal Department in “Kazphosphate” LTD. At the same time from 2002 to 2004 he held the position of the Chairman of the Board of Directors of OJSC «Vasilkovskiy GOK». Since 2007 through 2008 he was a Head of Legal Department, Managing Director–Head of the Unit under the President of OJSC «Vasilkovskiy GOK». Since 2007 till present he has been an out-of-the-staff Advisor to the Chairman of the Management Board of JSC «IC«Kazkommerce-Polis». In 2008 till 2009 Mr. Yeltsov he started from the position of Legal Department Head and grew up to the position of Chairman of the Management Board of JSC «Investment Fund of Kazakhstan». In December 2003 he passed an examination for the position of Judge in Qualification College of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan, accepted to the reserve Judges of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Since 2001 he has been a judge of International Court of Arbitration. From August 24, 2009 Mr. Yeltsov is a Deputy Chairman of the Management Board–Member of the Management Board of JSC “BTA Bank”. On October 7, 2009 by the decision of the Board of Directors of JSC "BTA Bank" Mr. Yeltsov has been appointed to the position of the Bank’s Compliance-Controller.
		Kunsulu Kapbasova Managing Director, Member of the Management Board In 1996 Ms. Kunsulu Kapbasova graduated from the Kazakh State Academy of Management with qualification of “Economist”. In 1998 she graduated from Maastricht School of Management in “Financial Management” specialty. Ms. Kapbasova has started her professional career back in 1995. From 1995 to 2005 she occupied positions of a section Head, division Head, Deputy Head of the marketing department and Director of the marketing department at JSC “Kazkommertsbank”. Ms. Kapbasova has been working in JSC “BTA Bank” since February 2005 where she held positions of the Director on Retail Lending, Executive Director on Retail Lending, Retail Sales Director and Managing Director. Since July 2008 through July 2009 she has occupied the position of the Managing Director, the Member of the Management Board, from July 2009 till January 2010 Ms. Kapbasova has been the Managing Director of the Bank. On January 25, 2010 Ms. Kapbasova was appointed as a Managing Director and a Member of the Management Board.
		Saida Abuova Managing Director, Member of the Management Board In 1994 Ms. Saida Abuova graduated from the Kazakh State Academy of Management with qualification of “Economist”. In 2000 Ms. Abuova graduated from the Kazakh Institute on Management, Economics and Strategic Research under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan having received the MBA (Master of Business Administration) degree. Ms. Abuova started her professional career in 1994. During 1994-1996 she was a team member of the Kazakh Joint-Stock Bank “Turanbank”. From 1999 till 2001 Ms. Abuova worked at OJSC “Kazkommertsbank”. Since 2001 through 2005 she has taken positions of the deputy head of corporate financing division, head of corporate financing division, Managing Director, Managing Director – Member of the Management Board at OJSC “Temirbank”. From 2005 to 2006 Ms. Abuova worked at JSC “KazInvestbank” taking up a position of the Managing Director – Member of the Management Board. In 2007 she was the Chairman of the Management Board, Member of the Board of Directors of JSC “IC ATF Policy”. During the period of 2007-2008 Ms. Abuova has been the Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of JSC “Demir Bank Kazakhstan”. Since October, 2009 she has been working at JSC “BTA Bank”. On January 25, 2010 Ms. Abuova was appointed as a Managing Director and a Member of the Management Board.
		Natalya Loginova Managing Director, Member of the Management Board In 1986 Ms. Loginova graduated from the Kazakh Polytechnic Institute named after V.I. Lenin, where she acquired a specialty in “Automated Management Systems”. In 1997 she graduated from Almaty Banking School under specialty “The Banking”. Ms. Loginova started her professional career back in 1986 at the Kazakh Branch of All-Soviet Union scientific and research Project-Technological Institute on mechanization and accounting automation in national economy of the USSR, where she worked till 1991. From 1991 till 1994 Ms. Loginova worked in Computation Centre of Kazakh Republican Bank of the USSR State Bank. During the period of 1994–1997 she was a team member of the National State Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Since May of 1997, Ms. Loginova has been working at JSC “BTA Bank” where she occupied the following positions: Head of Division, Executive Director/Director of the Unit, Financial Controlling Director, Head of Financial Controlling Department as well as the Managing Director.
