President of Kazakhstan asked President of Ukraine and Ukrainian business community to trust Bank TuranAlem

"I would like you to trust Bank TuranAlem, because we trust it." – said Nursultan Nazarbayev, President of Kazakhstan, to Victor Yushenko, President of Ukraine, and representatives of Ukrainian business and government bodies.

Presidents of Kazakhstan and Ukraine took part in "Kazakhstan-Ukraine: new perspectives for business" forum, part of the Kazakhstan Year in Ukraine. BTA is present at Ukrainian market since 2002, when the representative office was opened. In previous two years, the Bank organized financing of the projects in Ukraine for more than $100 million USD.

At present JSC "Bank TuranAlem" intends to strengthen its position in Ukrainian market through active financing of business-projects.

JSC "Bank TuranAlem" plans to significantly increase its presence in Ukrainian market, which is one of BTA’s priorities. It is symbolical, that this step is undertaken in 2007, Kazakhstan Year in Ukraine. It is a great opportunity to strengthen present trade and economic relations, expand mutual participation of business and capital in economies of both countries. - considers Mukhtar Ablyazov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of BTA, who also participated in the forum.

Mr.Ablyazov thanked Head of the State, Nursultan Nazarbayev, for the support of Kazakhstan business in foreign markets.

For today, financial products and technologies, developed by BTA for Kazakhstan market, are progressive and competitive for distribution in neighboring countries through the system of subsidiary banks and companies. In particular BTA plans to expand its presence in Ukrainian market by cooperating with its strategic partner-bank OJSC "BTA Bank" (before November, 2006 – Credit-export bank of Ukraine).

More than 400 businessmen, instead of 150 planned, attended the Kazakhstan-Ukrainian Forum. As a part of the Forum, participants had a chance to meet representatives of financial regulating bodies, customs, as well as the government.

JSC "Bank TuranAlem" (BTA) is the core of the financial group, present in all market segments. BTA is the system-making bank of Kazakhstan and the leader in creation of banking network in the CIS countries. BTA Group includes insurance, leasing, mortgage companies and pension fund. Network of strategic partner-banks expands to Ukraine, 4 regions of Russia, Belarus, Georgia and Armenia. BTA representative offices can be found in China, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and UAE. For the beginning of 2007, BTA's assets exceeded $15 bn USD, while its total equity capital approximates $2 bn USD. In last four years Bank’s assets grew more than 8 times. BTA confidently holds the leading position in trade financing, SME lending and mortgage loans among Kazakhstan's second-tier banks. BTA’s present Kazakhstan market share is 34.5%. Bank’s strategic goals for 2015 include taking the leading positions in Kazakhstan and other CIS markets in corporate and retail banking, SME segment and increase of BTA’s shares in Kazakhstan market at least up to 25%, at least 2% in Russia, and at least 5% in other countries of presence. It is planned to increase the assets to $25 bn USD till 2010 and to $50 bn USD till 2015.

Assets of OJSC "BTA Bank" (Ukraine) in 2006, according to preliminary data, increased two times and amounted to $56.9 million USD.
