Basic terms
Authorization – consent of the issuer to execute payments via payment card. Authorization obtaining procedure is established in accordance with internal rules of payment cards system and/or agreements entered into between the members of payment card system.
Bank – BTA Bank JSC.
Bank-Acquirer (Acquirer) – bank or organization executing certain types of bank transactions which, in accordance with terms of the agreement with entrepreneur and/or terms of payment documents drawn at the enterprises when making a payment via payment card, should receive funds arrived in favor of the entrepreneur and /or do any other actions provided by the agreement with entrepreneur. Also the Acquirer can be the bank executing withdrawal of cash via payment card.
Issuing Bank (Issuer) – authorized bank executing issuing of international and local payment cards.
АТМ – electronic-mechanical device enabling the cardholders to receive cash and use other services of the bank via payment cards.
Blocking of the card – absolute or temporary prohibition to execute card transactions via card.
Extract – extract on bank account with attached payment card, issued by the bank within the first days of a current calendar month, reflecting operations executed on bank account during the past calendar month, and being a sufficient proof of execution of card operations.
Main cardholder (hereinafter referred to as cardholder) – client – natural person, who has the right to use the card in accordance with agreement on issuance and maintenance.
Additional cardholder – authorized person of the client – natural person, who has the right to use the card in accordance with agreement on issuance and maintenance.
Agreement on issuance and maintenance of payment cards of MasterCard and Visa international payment systems and SmartAlem local payment system – agreement on opening and maintenance of bank account via payment card of an established form, entered into between the bank and the client.
Additional card – a card executed under bank account to the name of authorized person of the client – natural person. The client shall be entitled to set a limit to the type of card transactions and maximal amount available on additional card during a certain period of time.
Identification – process of revealing authenticity of documents, information, identity of the person by means of confidential data collation.
Card transaction – transactions executed via card or its details (number, validity period) for execution of noncash payment for goods and services of the outlets, receipt of cash and exchange operations with foreign currency.
Limit of expenses – amount of money including balance of own funds of the client on bank account and credit limit.
Limit of expenses on additional card – amount which the additional cardholder has the right to disburse. The amount is established by main cardholder.
International payment system – system of noncash payments for goods and services via cards having international circulation. International payment system establishes rights of functioning and executes clearing settlements on card operations between the members of International Payment System with corresponding currency conversion.
PIN-code – Personal Identification Number, secret code assignable to a cardholder and intended for identification of a cardholder.
Payment card – device of access to cash via electronic or other devices, which contains information enabling the holder of such card to execute payments, receive cash, exchange currencies and make other transactions, determined by the issuer of a payment card and in compliance with his/her rules.
POS-terminal – electronic device, used for the purposes of automation of authorization and execution of payment documents on operation.
Trade and service outlet – legal entity receiving cards for execution of payment for goods and/or services by means of writing-off cash from bank account of cardholder via POS-terminals and other devices.
Slip – payment document of trade and service outlet or an acquirer of an established form, executed in triplicates. It is used in case of making a card transaction in voice authorization mode. Slip shall be certified by signatures of a cardholder and teller of trade and service outlet or acquirer.
Check – document printed by POS-terminal and containing information on executed transaction.
Card Service (authorization centers) – subdivisions of the banks – members of payment systems, executing voice authorization and blocking of the card on behalf of the cardholder or by the bank’s initiative. Authorization center works on a round-the-clock basis, without days-off.
