BTA opens score of refinanced social mortgage loans30.03.2009 / Press-service
Chairman of the BTA Board of Directors Anvar Saidenov presented today a commemorative certificate to Svetlana Aliyeva, BTA Bank’s first customer under the government’s mortgage refinancing programme. Ms. Aliyeva, an instructor at the Kazakh State Women’s University for Teacher Education, was the first borrower whose mortgage loan had qualified for refinancing in the “social” category. The loan was granted in 2006 and since then has never been past-due.
As reported before, BTA Bank has received under the programme a total of KZT 40 billion divided into KZT 28 billion deposited with the bank itself and KZT 12 billion with BTA Ipoteka. The plan is to have these funds drawn down before mid-June.
By today, 66 mortgage refinancing applications totalling about KZT 300 million have been approved and another 466 totalling KZT 1.9 billion are under review. Overall, 3,644 applications have been received totalling KZT 14.8 billion, out of which 24% are claiming “social” status. BTA estimates the potential number of borrowers to qualify for this programme to be about 11,000.
To process the required paperwork more efficiently, BTA Bank was among the first institutions to approach Population Service Centres (PSCs) directly. As a result, remote PSCs are now operating out of service locations at 19 of BTA’s branches.
BTA Group is a leading banking network in the CIS.
