BTA’s share of Karaganda region’s SME loan market up 7.8% in January-February01.04.2009 / Karaganda, Press-service
In the first two months of 2009, BTA Bank increased its share of Karaganda region’s small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) lending market by 7.8% to 39.73% as at March 1, 2009. Today, BTA’s SME loan portfolio in the region stands at KZT 40.4 billion.
Nationwide, in January-February, BTA Bank’s share of the regional SME lending markets increased from 17.6% to 18.4%. On March 31, 2009, the total SME loan portfolio of the bank was equal to KZT 223.3 billion.
Since January 1, 2009, BTA Bank has issued 5,200 SME loans totalling KZT 58.5 billion with the Karagandy region accounting for 1,100 with the aggregate amount of KZT 12.97 billion.
Out of more than 52,000 SME customers that BTA Bank serves today, more than 5,300 are based in the Karaganda region.
The above information was part of the message from BTA’s Chairman of the Management Board Anvar Saidenov at his meeting with the Karaganda region’s Akim (Governor) Nurlan Nigmatullin and representatives of the Damu Enterprise Development Fund, Atameken Entrepreneurs’ Union and local business associations.
“BTA Bank was selected as a primary operator for the allocation of public funds under the government’s SME support programme. In accordance with the general agreement we have with the Samruk-Kazyna National Welfare Fund and Damu, a total of KZT 22 billion has been made available to us for the financing of new projects and refinancing existing ones”, informed Saidenov.
According to Saidenov, a total of KZT 13.7 billion or 62.6% of all allocated funds had been drawn down by BTA under the programme by March 31, 2009, representing 730 loans totalling KZT 6.5 billion that had already been granted and 141 loans worth a total of KZT 7.3 billion that have been approved.
In Karaganda region, a total of KZT 2.57 billion or 68% of the allocation has been drawn down, representing 87 already-granted loans totalling KZT 1.2 billion and 36 loans totalling KZT 1.4 billion that have been approved.
During his visit, Mr. Saidenov also met with some of BTA Bank’s major clients in the region, namely, TOO Kazakhmys Corporation Ltd., Karagandatsvetmet manufacturing enterprise, Amanat Ltd., Common Market Ltd., the Buketov Karaganda State University, Karaganda Technical State University and Karaganda Economic University.
